About

Rachel Babineau is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Canada. She holds a BDes from OCAD University’s Material Art & Design Fibre program. In her fine art practice Rachel uses acrylic paint, mixed media and experimental techniques to create vibrant floral and text-based work. Her public artwork often focuses on themes of sustainability and environment. In 2023 Rachel was selected from a national call and installed her first permanent public art sculpture in Orillia, Ontario. Her passion for sharing art with others extends to workshops and collaborative murals. Rachel teaches art workshops for children and adults with Thrive Youth and Original Genes. Rachel’s experimental approach has also led her to create “Peel & Reveal Murals” an innovative approach to collaborative art. These projects allow participants of all ages abilities to  express themselves freely by mark making on a large canvas. Once the canvas is filled a masked layer is removed to reveal an image made up of the art of the group and the space behind the mask.
